About Donny

Brandon "Donny Cal" Calhoun, a self-taught Painter, was born and raised in Houston, Texas. His contemporary artwork is characterized by drippy, layered abstracts, impactful human forms, and a recurring motif of shadow figures, employing a blend of oil, acrylic, and spray paint mediums. In 2015, he discovered his passion for painting after being profoundly moved by a piece from his favorite artist, Daniel Maltzman. Since then, Donny has dedicated himself relentlessly to mastering his craft, striving for excellence in his field.

In addition to his prowess in visual arts, Donny seamlessly integrates his skills in UI/UX Design and Photography into his creative repertoire. His keen eye for design and composition, cultivated through these additional disciplines, enriches the depth and innovation in his artwork.

His art has graced numerous prestigious galleries across Texas, notably debuting with his inaugural solo exhibition titled “#her” in July 2015—a poignant tribute to women. Continuously honing his artistic and design skills, Donny is on the cusp of establishing himself among the world’s foremost artists.
